The top is worked from the top down.
You begin by knitting the collar, which is later folded to the wrong side and sewn down. Stitch markers are then placed for the raglan increases, and raglan shaping is worked in stockinette stitch to form the upper body and sleeves.
When the raglan section is complete, the work is divided into body and sleeves. Sleeve stitches are bound off, and the body is worked in the round. Stitches are cast on at the center front to create the opening detail before continuing downward. Waist decreases are worked along the body, and the piece is finished by binding off.
Finally, stitches are picked up around the opening and finished with a crocheted edge and buttonholes.
